Card Spring, also known as retaining rings or snap rings, are a type of hardware fastener available in many variations, primarily installed in the shaft grooves or holes of machines and equipment. Many people often confuse card spring with elastic retaining rings. So, what is the difference between card spring and elastic retaining rings?
In simple terms, card spring serve to prevent axial movement of components on shafts or within holes.
Card spring are important components that belong to small equipment parts, and their specifications are generally very small.
The shape of a card spring is typically circular, but it has a notch at one end. By placing the card spring onto the equipment that needs to be fixed and locking the notch with a screw, the equipment can be kept stable; this is the function of the card spring.
In CNC lathes, spindle card spring are commonly used as fixtures for holding parts, and because of their good structure and precision, they are widely applied in the manufacturing field. However, in specific production processes, card spring lack axial positioning devices and can only rely on the end face of the card spring to position against specific tools. The specific operation involves moving the tool to a certain fixed position set by the program, then opening the machine door to release the card spring, drawing the end face of the workpiece to fit against the tool face, and then tightening the spindle card spring and closing the machine door.
Currently, this positioning method is complex and has low positioning precision, unable to meet the precision of parts, significant size variations in batch parts, and cannot satisfy the quick switching and processing of multiple kinds of parts during the production process.
