The manufacturing process of scroll springs is not as complicated as one might imagine. Its stiffness is relatively low and generally works under static loads. Due to the possibility of many winding turns and large deformations, it can store a significant amount of energy in a relatively small volume. Its material cross-section can be in the shape of a rectangular steel strip or a circular steel wire.

When making scroll springs, a specialized Archimedes scroll mold must first be designed; then the winding process and heat treatment process used must be considered. Before winding, the purchased rectangular steel strip is annealed, and during winding, methods such as handheld winding, lathe winding, and specialized tool winding can be employed.
