The surface treatment of the connector shrapnel is a surface processing method that artificially forms a layer with mechanical, physical, and chemical properties different from that of the substrate on the surface of the product material. The purpose of surface treatment is to meet the processing requirements for the corrosion resistance, wear resistance, decoration, or other functional needs of the shrapnel workpiece.

The treatment methods for connector shrapnel include: pre-coating surface treatment, which aims to remove various foreign substances (such as grease, rust, dust, old paint film, etc.) attached to the surface of the shrapnel, providing a suitable base for coating requirements to ensure the coating has good anti-corrosion performance, decorative performance, and certain functional characteristics. Therefore, the shrapnel surface must undergo pre-treatment before coating.

Manual processing, such as using scrapers, wire brushes, or sandpaper. Manual methods can remove rust and oxidation from the surface of the shrapnel, but the drawbacks of manual processing are high labor intensity, low production efficiency, poor quality, and incomplete cleaning.

Chemical treatment refers to the general term for using chemical or electrochemical processing to generate a layer of stable compounds on the metal surface. Rust removal can be achieved using acid solutions, anodic dissolution (electrolysis), etc., either separately or in combination, while phosphate treatment, chrome treatment, blackening, and anodizing can create a protective film on the metal surface.

Ion surface treatment, where ion beam mixing is used to bombard the metal coated with multilayer films, causing the atoms of each layer to mix due to ion collisions, is primarily used in metallurgical research. Ion implantation technology is found in integrated circuits and microelectronics.

The surface treatment of metal shrapnel mainly aims to enhance the characteristics and lifespan of the product.
